Southern Grammar School for Girls. Three storeys, symmetrical block, red brick with lavish stone dressings, in English Wren Baroque revival style. Fifteen windows to each floor, the central three and the three either end in slight projections. Parapet with coping to end projections and segmental brick pediment with stone coping to centre. Close set sash windows in architrave surrounds on upper floors. Ground floor windows without architraves but with triple keystones. Panelled and glazed central double doors, with semi-circular fanlight. Entrance flanked by paired Doric columns set one behind the other. | T&CP Act |

Holy Spirit, originally St. Matthew's, a Gothic revival building started in 1904, designed by J. T. Micklethwaite, and completed by Sir Charles Nicholson. Restored by S.E. Dykes Bower in 1958 after sustaining bomb damage during the war. The exterior is tall and austere, rising above the surrounding houses. The interior is spacious and brilliantly coloured. The east window of the chancel has stained glass by C.E. Kempe, brought from St. Bartholomew's Southsea. Furnishings by Temple Moore from St. Agnes, Kennington, London. | SZ 653 994 2706 09 |

The Golden Eagle. Two storey brick building. Oriel window at first floor. Balustraded parapet along the roof of the two road frontages, with the figure of a golden eagle at the splayed corner. The Northcote Hotel. Brick two and a half storey building, with stone dressings. Windows wholly in the gables, one of which is surmounted by a pediment inscribed with the name of the hotel.
