The Vine Inn. 2 storeys and attic, colour-washed brick, old tile roof with two hipped dormers. Five sash windows on first floor, three similar windows and projecting angular bay, with hipped slate roof, on ground floor. King John's House, or Hunting Box. A hall house of circa 1240, part of the property within the mediaeval abbey. Hall on first floor, room of similar size below and cellar. Outside staircase on west wall, now masked by Tudor Cottage. External walls are flint quoined with stone. Early English window in west wall, plain doorway in east wall, leading possibly to a former chapel. Now used as a centre for exhibitions and concerts. O.S.A. No. SU32 SE4. Ref: 1.
