| Gravestone |
St. Boniface Church. This gravestone is set into the east wall of the church and records that Margaret Reeves died on February 14th 1730/31, this is a rare example of dual dating, this was due to the fact that England, being Protestant, was out of step with the Catholic countries of Europe who were following Papal instructions issued in 1582, that New Year's Day would be on the 1st January not the 25th March. Britain changed to the new dating system in 1752. Ref: Hampshire Magazine, Jan. 1978 (Amey) p.54. | SU 359 164 2522 41 |
