Church
C.10/11		 St. Mary. Almost complete example of a Saxon building. Walls of whole flints with large quoins of irregular long and short work, and pilaster strips of green sandstone and ironstone. Building consists of chancel and aisleless nave separated by square central tower. East window with net like tracery dates from 1340. 'Leper' window in north wall. Seven 'double-splayed' Saxon windows remain. Chancel arch and arch in west wall of tower C.15. Arches supported on capitals. Wall shafts and corbels carved with foliage and a human head. Ancient font. Tower houses four bells cast in late C.16 and early C.17. Cable moulding on south transept arch. Anglo Saxon inscription on other side dating from reign of Ethelred II. C.16		 The Thatched Cottage. Early to mid C. 1 6 with probably C.18 additions to left hand side. 1 to 2 storeys. Timber-framed with brick nogging and brick addition to left. Square framing with some diagonal braces. Hipped thatched roof. C.17 brick chimney stack. Two 4-casement windows. Simple doorcase. Later lean-to extension to rear and side.     T. & C.P. Act
