| Monument C.19 |
Burrard Neale Monument or Walhampton Monument. Massive stone stepped plinth, surmounted by 75ft. high tapered obelisk. Bronze armorial on eastern face. Each of the four faces of the base has a large iron plaque. Erected in 1840, to the memory of Sir Harry Burrard Neale BT. G.C.B., G.C.M.G., M.P. for Lymington in 1832. The monument is situated on a large earthen mound, of possible ancient-British origin. Access is via a public footpath on the eastern side of the river. | T. & C. P. Act |
