Garnier Road
Buildings
 Two engine houses similar in elevation and plan, standing side by side. One erected in 1878 to house two beam engines, and the second in 1904 for a triple expansion engine. The 1878 building incorporates ornate stonework including a representation of the City Arms filling the arch over the end window. The red bricks arranged to form a decorative frieze under the eaves with course of blue bricks providing contrasting colour. Dormer windows are placed in the roof of both buildings. Welsh slates cover the steeply pitched roofs which are topped by ridge tiles. Both buildings have foundation stones providing various pieces of information, including the identity of the serving mayor. Ref: Last Steam Pumps in Winchester.
