Highfield House. Known as Heckfield Park until 1819. Large Queen Anne and Georgian country house. 2 storeys. Colourwashed stucco with hipped old tiled roof. 3-bay projecting part on south front. Wide Ionic portico with coupled columns, and three full-height French casement windows beneath. North front of 3 storeys with central Doric portico. Foundations and cellars show signs of earlier building. Probably built on site of manor house. House sited on spur overlooking wooded country. Lime avenue to north front. O.S.A. No. SU76 SW8. Ref: 1.
