Page 1 - Bramshill

Bramshill is situated on workable gravel-bearing land, and bounded in the west by the little River Hart and the Whitewater into which it flows, and on the north by the River Blackwater which here defines the county boundary with Berkshire.

The mansion of Bramshill was built on mediaeval foundations between 1605 and 1612 and is one of the finest examples of early Jacobean architecture in England. In 1953 the mansion was purchased from Lord Brocket by the Government for permanent use as the Police College.
